Stage 10 of 16
Beneath the surface
Depth & Discovery
The ocean is mostly hidden. So are you. What lies beneath your surface?
"If you snorkel or dive, you'll know: another world exists just below, invisible from above. The same is true of the psyche. Today, go under."
Grounding, sensory prompts to ease into reflection
Put your face in water鈥攐cean or pool. Open your eyes if you can. What does the world look like from below?
Submerge your face, even briefly
Breathe deeply five times. With each exhale, release a word that names something you're ready to let go of.
Say each word aloud as you exhale
Dive down鈥攁s deep as you can on one breath. Feel the pressure increase, the light change, the world go quieter. Then return to the surface. What did you glimpse in that brief descent?
Take a freedive, even a short one
Emotional and relational explorations
What are you most proud of that no one knows about?
What do you do when no one is watching? What does that reveal?
Snorkel over coral and find a cleaning station鈥攁 spot where small fish clean larger ones. Watch this ancient agreement: vulnerability exchanged for care. Where in your life could you let yourself be tended to?
Challenging questions for those ready to go further
Describe your childhood self in three sentences. Then describe how that child would feel about your life now.
What is the lie you tell yourself most often? The small one that keeps things manageable?
The reef is bleaching in many places鈥攃oral turning white from stress, the color of surrender. What parts of you have bleached under the stress of your life? Can they recover?
These prompts are for you alone. Write in a journal, speak them aloud, or simply let them move through you. There is no right way to reflect.
